This piece was dedicated to my father, prior to his death, and now lives in his memory after his passing in January of 2024. I wouldn’t be who I am without him, and I miss him every day. He asked that I take care of my mom and that we celebrate after his death, and that we did. Chosen family and community have been the saving graces every step of the way along our journey.

My dad was a beloved photographer, and I opened my own studio in his honor this year, named The Treehouse, after the one he built me when I was five. I started a GoFundMe for the space when I moved in, and all proceeds from the virtual version of the show will go to keeping it running.
